My Secret Garden – a neurolinguistic approach to child anxiety
Brave Steps to Help Children Overcome Anxiety Anxiety in children is a common issue that can manifest in various forms, impacting their emotional well-being and daily activities. As parents and caregivers, it is crucial to recognise the signs of anxiety early on and take proactive measures to support children in managing their feelings. By using the anchor technique you are a building a neural response to anxiety, embedding the pathway to manage it and creating a technique that works in seconds and lasts a lifetime.
Understanding the Technique.
The Anchor Technique is not hypnotherapy and has its origins in Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP). Once practised over 4 weeks, it is embedded further by regular use, induces feelings of calmness in stressful situations, can help prevent dysregulated mood or ‘meltdowns’ building confidence and assisting quality and restorative sleep. The Anchor Technique is a powerful tool and used regularly, it can improve children’s overall wellbeing.
This course is for treating children aged 6 years and over, who have separation anxiety or children who have a generalised anxiety disorder, children with a trauma background, children having surgery or regular medical treatment and children in situational stress or school-based avoidance.
What is My Secret Garden about?
Emotional anchoring is one of the most famous and effective techniques of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), thanks to which we can generate certain emotional states when we want to better manage situations that normally overwhelm us, generating negative emotions such as anger, frustration, sadness or anxiety.
Will it Work?
When the anchor is properly established and the technique is consistently practised and reinforced over a brief period, the results can be profoundly transformative.
In instances where the trauma is more intense than the anchor, this anchor can assist a child in confronting their experiences with reduced intensity, helping them stay calmer and find their way through.
